Our approach will keep up with aggressive schedules, mitigate risks, and get your project online—faster.
Bring your project to market up to 25 weeks earlier.
APD is a way to evolve how projects are delivered, making them faster, more efficient, and less costly.
APD Benefits
With Apex, your team will get a fully coordinated approach and critical path certainty to minimize risk across all structural components.
Stakeholders:
By consolidating structural design and detailing, APD removes uncertainty at handoffs and gives stakeholders greater confidence in scope, cost, and schedule commitments.
Contractors:
APD brings structural design and procurement closer to the contractor, allowing teams to respond to cost and schedule impacts earlier and make informed decisions that keep critical projects moving forward.

We’ve delivered projects months faster than traditional methods, including side-by-side builds where our APD approach finished first.

An out-of-the-box structural design helped our client win a competitive design-build pursuit—cutting structural steel by one-third.

APD delivers decision-ready structural information—helping stakeholders align, commit, and execute with confidence.

APD minimizes RFIs, streamlines submittals, and reduces meeting overload—so teams can focus on building, not project administration.
APD saves 14–25 weeks by combining structural design and detailing under one contract and within one software environment. By overlapping design, procurement, and detailing, we eliminate many structural RFIs, reduce submittal review time, and cut down on endless coordination meetings—accelerating the path from design kickoff to steel erection.
Yes. APD has been proven on complex, real-world projects including advanced manufacturing, advanced technology, space exploration, and mission-critical facilities. By delivering rolling structural information earlier, teams can secure long-lead procurement dates sooner—or pivot to alternate solutions—keeping the project on schedule.
APD is not necessary for every project. It is best suited for projects that are inherently complex and where schedule certainty and early procurement decisions are critical—such as advanced manufacturing, advanced technology, space exploration, ship manufacturing, and mission-critical facilities. If long-lead items or aggressive timelines drive risk, APD is typically a strong fit.
APD supports other trades by providing more accurate structural information for coordination. Because the structure is modeled at a higher level of detail than a typical design model—including items like plates and kickers—other disciplines can coordinate hanger locations, duct routing, and pipe paths around real conditions earlier. This reduces field measuring, lowers project costs, and helps teams turn the building over sooner.
On prior projects, Apex has also modeled joist web members so subcontractors could coordinate digitally around panel points well before mobilizing on site. This allowed teams to prefabricate hangers, pipe runs, and other materials in advance, improving installation efficiency once construction began. In addition, Apex actively communicates critical structural schedules and can quickly pivot when MEP/FP or owner information evolves, helping keep the project moving without disrupting.
